WordPress 06 – Working with Sections and Columns

Access the Elementor Editor

  • Log in to your WordPress dashboard.
  • Go to “Pages” → “Add New” or choose an existing page to edit.
  • Click the “Edit with Elementor” button.

Adding Sections

  • In the Elementor editor, you can see a section widget in the left sidebar under the “Structure” tab.
  • Drag and drop the “Section” widget onto the canvas.

Adjusting Section Layout

  • After adding a section, you can customize its layout by clicking the section handle on the top left.
  • A pop-up will appear with options to adjust the section’s structure, content width, background, padding, and more.

Splitting Sections into Columns

  • Inside a section, you can split it into columns to arrange your content.
  • Click the “+ Add New Column” button to add columns within the section.

Column Settings

  • Select a column to access its settings on the left sidebar.
  • Customize the column’s width, padding, background, and more.
  • You can also set different column settings for different devices (desktop, tablet, mobile) to achieve responsive design.

Arranging Columns

  • To rearrange columns, simply click and hold the column handle, then drag it to a new position within the section.
  • You can adjust the width of columns by dragging the separator between them.

Adding Widgets to Columns

  • Drag and drop widgets into the columns to add content.
  • Each column can hold different widgets to create diverse layouts.

Nesting Sections and Columns

  • You can nest sections within other sections to create more complex layouts.
  • Within a section, add columns as usual and then add additional sections inside those columns.

Backgrounds and Styles

  • Sections and columns can have background colors, images, or videos.
  • Customize backgrounds and styles in the settings on the left sidebar.

Padding and Margins

  • Adjust padding within columns or sections to control spacing between elements.
  • Use margins to control spacing outside the section or column.

Working with sections and columns provides you with the flexibility to create dynamic and visually appealing layouts for your WordPress website. Experiment with different arrangements, backgrounds, and styles to achieve the desired look and feel for your pages.
